Holistic health care is all about achieving good health naturally. Achieving good health in this day and age is not an easy thing. If you are one of those rare people whose genes allow you to live a long life free from any health problems in spite of the adverse conditions we live in then read no further. For the majority of us maintaining good health is a lot more difficult.
One of the main causes of poor health is the environment we live in. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the electronic emissions that surround us. Pollution is our biggest enemy in our fight for good health.
Our air is contaminated with gasses and particles emitted by millions of vehicles and aircraft. Our oceans and therefore our fish are contaminated with mercury and other toxic substances. Our drinking water is full of chemicals leaking from factories, run off from fields dosed with pesticides and fertilisers, and hormone altering molecules from plastics. Our food is full of pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics and growth hormones. More and more microwaves enter our space daily.
What to do to combat it all. Take the air first. A difficult one. We have to breathe and we can’t go round wearing space suits all day. We can, though, improve the air in our homes by running air filters especially in bed rooms. Good air filters remove pathogens, particles and allergens. Mould spoors, are much unhealthier than most people think.
Filter your drinking water. Probably the best is a reverse osmosis filter but just a simple jug filter will considerably improve the water quality. If drinking bottled water try to obtain glass bottles.
As far as food is concerned locally grown organic is best. Stay away from factory farmed meat and processed food full of chemicals. Large fish such as tuna contain large amounts of mercury and other heavy metals. Better to eat small fish which do not live long enough to absorb a lot.
Switch off electric and electronic appliances when not in use, especially next to your bed when sleeping.
Finally take some exercise.
Enjoy life. Hopefully it will be a long and healthy one. That’s holistic health care.
